From April through November, we’ll have a table stocked with art supplies at the Portland Maine First Friday Art Walks.  Everyone is invited to stop by our table to draw a turkey portrait for the collection!

November 24, 2021 – Vegans of New England ( VoNE), a co-partnered project of Compassion Arts Festival, New England Veg Fest and CompassionFest. 46 Million Turkeys was included in this live-streamed event focused on Gratitude in Action, for uplifting and connecting plant-based community, as well as exploring the work of redefining the traditional Thanksgiving ‘holiday’ and examining what it means. The event hosted an inspiring line-up of farm animal sanctuaries, cooking demos, interviews, and recipes from vegan kitchens and chefs, interviews, music, healing arts, advocates and artists sharing their work and stories of hope and inspiration for creating a narrative of healing and holistic nonviolence towards a more compassionate and just world for all.

October 27, 2019 – Compassion Speaks: Seeds of Reconciliation –  Amazing Things Arts Center (160 Hollis Street Framingham, MA 01702). This event organized by Compassion Arts will focus on themes of healing our relationship with the life with which we share this planet through a new perspective on our narrative about animals. 46 Million Turkeys will have turkey portraits on display and attendees will have the opportunity to create a portrait to add to the collection. November 9, 2019 – Peace Ridge Gentle Thanksgiving

Road Trip! In November 2017 – 46 Million Turkeys went on tour! We put the entire collection–millions and millions–of turkey portraits in a truck to create a mobile gallery. Our route took us to locations in:

New Hampshire – November 5, 2017 – Vaughan Mall Green, Portsmouth

Massachusetts – November 12, 2017 – Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

New Jersey – November 18, 2017 – Hamilton Street, Brunswick

New York – November 19, 2017 – Dun-Well Doughnuts – New York City

November 3, 2017 – Portland Maine First Friday Art Walks. 46 Million Turkeys was outside of the Maine College of Art on Congress Street inviting everyone to make a turkey portrait to add to the collection.

October 29, 2017  – Peace Ridge Sanctuary Open House. Attendees met donkeys, chickens, cow, pigs and Napoleon the turkey. Everyone had an opportunity to make a turkey portrait.

October 21-22, 2017 – Boston Veg Food Fest 46 Million Turkeys was on exhibit and collecting turkey portrait from festival attendees. Thanks to everyone who made a portrait for the collection.

June 2017 – 46 Million Turkeys in collaboration with the Maine Animal Coalition tabled at the Portland Pride Festival and the Craft Brew Races. Lots of colorful turkey portraits were created by festival attendees.

November 2016 – 46 Million Turkeys in collaboration with the Maine Animal Coalition and Peace Ridge Sanctuary  sponsored turkey portrait creation throughout the month of November. Over 800 one-of-kind portraits of turkeys were created during the Portland First Friday Art Walk on November 4th at the Maine Animal Coalition office (142 High Street, Suite 322, Portland, Maine).

October 22-23, 2016 – Boston Veg Food Fest

46 Million Turkeys joined Peace Ridge Sanctuary (http://www.peaceridgesanctuary.org/) at the Portland Maine GreenFest (http://www.portlandgreenfest.org/). We shared information on how animal agriculture contributes to water pollution, deforestation, climate change as well as why a vegan diet is an achievable solution to these critical issues. Attendees also had the opportunity to draw a turkey portrait.

46 Million Turkeys was on view  at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell, Maine.

April 17, 2014
46 Million Turkeys was on view at a film screening of The Ghosts in Our Machine followed by a round table discussion at the University of Southern Maine.

June 7, 2014
Maine Animal Coalition’s Vegetarian Festival – participants stopped by the 46 Million Turkeys table to create a turkey. More than 100 new turkey images were added to the growing collection! Tofurky generously supplied coupons for their delicious products.

September 20, 2014
46 Million Turkeys was present at the children’s activity tent during the DC VegFest. Much appreciation to Tanya Janish for making this opportunity possible.
